http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/06/bikes-and-tech/upcoming-from-cycleops-heart-rate-based-power-meters-and-superlight-carbon-wheelset_178521 I'm meeting with Steve Hawkins, local Saris/Cycleops rep, this Friday to discuss how we can get a hold of some of these products for a test ride- so to speak. What is of particular interest to me, is the NEW heart rate based power calculator. How does it work? I have no clue. Is it as accurate as a $1500 Power Meter? No, and it's not marketed as one. I'll just have to wait and see for myself. But, what I like about this new device is that it's at least a foot in the door of the Power Meter world at a fraction of the cost. I think it's a good idea for those cyclists that a) don't really understand what power meters are and b) for those cyclists who thought/think that power meters are still cost-prohibitive. Regardless, I'll be passing all this good information on as I receive it.
Stay tuned for more info to come! Power ON! Coach Rob

Any updates on their Cycleops VR software? Curious to know if you've had a chance to see it, compare it to Computrainer.
Nope, no update..I'm anxiously awaiting. If the VR Software works as advertised..I'll buy a Powerbeam for travel and use my laptop.
For home use, nothing beats the Computrainer with HD Erg Videos projected on a big screen...for both accuracy and reality.
I've been hearing really good things about the Tacx Bushido, but am hesitant. Sue likes the Tacx because of all the European VR routes (and it's good enough for Jen Viogt) All three seem to have pluses and minus, and there are no good comparative reviews yet. I'm leaning toward the Tacx based on a friends recommendation. But it's hard to not go with the tried and true Computrainer.
RacerMate should really consider moving to OpenSource and letting the community get the software done at this point.
I would be interesting to understand how Cycleops' new H/R based product compares to the power etimates provided by Strava.
